Finding Your Creative Community
A Friday Creativity Boost
I’ve been attending the School of the Possible‘s Friday Camp Fire for the last three weeks, and each time I come away creatively inspired and energized. Here’s how Dave Gray (the founder and moderator) describes the weekly meet-ups:
Join us for a casual, informal Zoom chat to talk about things you are inspired by, share your creative energy, projects you’re excited about, and whatever else comes up!
This is a community of creative thinkers who are just talking. There may be a topic someone brings up, an idea they are working on, or even a project they want feedback on. It’s open to all and the conversations are diverse and time boxed so no one can drone on too long.
This week, I’m afraid I was a little selfish. I got feedback on the article I’m writing for next week’s Mindful Creativity blog about the recent Apple iPad commercial and the presentation on ageism I’m giving at UX Camp Spring 2024 tomorrow. For both, I got excellent questions, comments and ideas that will help me have a stronger presentation and better article.
My point
Find your creative community. Creativity doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s not about the lonely genius scratching away with their pen or the starving artist selling blood to buy paint. The best creativity comes in community with others.
